摘要：Recurrence is one of the most important properties in dynamical systems. It turns out that recurrence also has many profound applications in combinatorial number theory. In this talk I will review some known results concerning recurrence and the applications. In the process I will also explain the main tools used and under development, and state some recent results and some open questions.

报告人简介：
叶向东，中国科学技术大学教授, 从事基础数学中拓扑动力系统、遍历理论及其在组合数论中应用的研究。他与合作者在动力系统的结构定理、多重遍历平均的收敛、熵的理论、动力系统的复杂性及其它们在组合数论中应用等方面进行了深入研究并得到了一系列深刻的结果。2013年获第十四届陈省身数学奖、2018年获国家自然科学二等奖(1/3)、2019年当选中国科学院院士、2020年获得何梁何利科学与技术进步奖、2023年当选为发展中国家科学院院士。
