Abstract:This talk contains two parts. In the first part, we give an overview of perturbation theory of operators, including Weyl-von Neumann theorem and Kato-Rosenblum theorem, and introduce Voiculescu’s quasicentral modulus. In the second part, we introduce our recent results in the extension of Voiculescu’s results to the case of von Neumann algebras and factors.
