Abstract:The classification programme of simple nuclear C*-algebras asserts one can classify such C*-algebras in terms of an inviariant constructed out of K-theory and tracial information. However, in order to be able to use these classifications results, one must verify a topological type regularity property first. The Toms-Winter conjecture predicts that this regularity condition is equivalent to other type of regularity properties which might be easier to verify. In this talk, I will present an overview of this conjecture.
