Abstract:Finite tensor categories are natural generalizations of the representation categories of finite groups, some quantum groups and vertex operator algebras. Modular tensor categories are also the integral component of topological quantum field theory and quantum computations. In this talk, we will discuss the basic definitions on tensor categories, examples obtained from finite groups, and some arithmetic invariants of these categories.
