Abstract: We will discuss recent developments on noncommutative martingale inequalities in general symmetric spaces. More precisely, we provide optimal conditions on the symmetric space E that insure the validity of Burkholder/Rosenthal inequalities. Namely, we will show that if a noncommutative symmetric space E is an interpolation of the couple (L_p, L_2)
