The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (IASM) was founded in July 2016, which also has a branch in Shenzhen. Now IASM (including the Shenzhen Branch) invites outstanding young researchers in the research on mathematics and related fields to join us. Compare to the traditional mathematics department in China, we have the following distinguishing features:
Firstly, we have a strong scientific committee, which includes eminent national and international leaders in mathematics. The scientific committee aims to supervise and evaluate the academic activities and progress of IASM. Besides, the scientific committee will response for introducing outstanding researchers to IASM, as well as offering references for the researchers of IASM.
Secondly, IASM is a new research institution that is directly under the supervision of the university. All important affairs that involve employ, promotion and evaluation will be determined by execution committee of IASM after fully consulting with the scientific committee. It would avoid complicated administration judgement and management which might have prejudice to the mathematical discipline.
Thirdly, the faculties in IASM only have few teaching duty. For instance, post-doctors will not take any teaching duty, and for other faculties, there is only one course per academic year (about 30-50 hours). Moreover, the teaching duty can be adjusted or reduced if the faculty visit other abroad institution during the whole academic year.
Finally, IASM will create a delightful work atmosphere for researchers. To this end, we will refer French research institutions and the evaluation system. Our aim is to create an effective platform for the development of every faculty and help to them to make a successful career.
